Susan Brink (Dominick’s, Little Dom’s, Soho House) adds local boutique wineries for an eclectic twist to the Colonial.

Popular sommelier & Venokado proprietor Susan Brink trades in some esoteric wines for expertly-crafted and well-priced Californian beauties. Old friends since working together at Mandalay Restaurant and The Pearl Cocktail Lounge, Brink and owner Mary Anne Reyes are excited about the new list. “Susan & I share the same philosophy about wine – that it should be fun and an everyday enjoyment.”

Customers can look forward to wines with names such as “Runaway Red,” “Down to Earth,” Hocus Pocus” and “Genuine Risk”. The wineries behind these names are equally original such as Black Sheep Finds, a young husband and wife team working out of a warehouse in Lompoc.

Many of these wines can be found at Venokado, (West Hollywood and Santa Monica) the trendy wine & gift boutique co-owned with sister Molly and Tracy Hof.

1. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup paired with 2010 D. Bouissiere, “Les Amis”, Grenache, Syrah, Merlot, Gigondas, France
The jamminess of the “Les Amis” wine mixed with the peanut butter and chocolate gives the taste of a peanut butter sandwich.

2. Whopper Malt Balls paired with 2007 Torre Quarto “Sangue Blu”, Negroamaro, Puglia, Italy
The malt balls mixed with the Negroamaro will taste like a cherry milk shake.
